Green Key Certificate: Preparation and Certification

The Green Key certificate is the leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation in the tourism industry. This prestigious certificate represents a commitment by companies that their facilities meet the rigorous criteria established by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Green Key assures guests that by choosing to stay at a Green Key property, they are helping to make a difference to the environment. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits. Green Key is eligible for hotels, hostels, small accommodations, campsites, holiday parks, conference centres, restaurants and attractions.

Scope and phases of a Green Key Certification Preparation Program:

1. Evaluation & Diagnosis: Discovery of risks and opportunities based on Green Key criteria.
2.  Formatting of the Action Plan: Delivery of possible ways to understand what must be done to achieve certification.
3. Applicable Training: Form a committee and train people to generate autonomy. This training will have a minimum of six modules.
4. Getting Ready for the Certification: Monthly follow-up to obtain certification, if they want to continue with the Plan.
5. Certification: Request for an audit by the responsible agency and achievement of the seal!

The implementation of Green Key procedures is carried out jointly and co-created with the establishment using the RethinkingWorks platform as a repository of preparation information, education and final documentation for certification.

The process can take between 4 weeks and 2 months, depending on availability and priority given to the topic.

• A distance diagnosis of maturity for the implementation of the Green Key Certificate (free)

The values of a complete Green Key certification preparation program are extremely reasonable and should be in the order of a day's worth revenue of an establishment.
