The variability of the spatial distribution of plants as measured by the coefficient of variation directly interferes with the grain yield of the maize crop, and the higher this coefficient, the lower the yield. For every 1% increase in the coefficient of variation of the spatial distribution of plants in the row, there is a decrease in productivity in the range of 16 to 29 kg.ha-1.
